More Pixel Art!

The results of a very creative month!

A pixel a day! I made even more pixel doodles than I intended to!

Fanarts:
Haku from Spirited Away

Quetzalcóatl from Final Fantasy VIII

Madeen from Final Fantasy IX

Trico from the Last Guardian

Now I have a very long list of characters/creatures I want to draw! I also want to make a new package of sprites for the Asset Store, in pixel art. And to start coding again...

Need a good schedule! ^^

Pixel Art

Lately while I scroll my Twitter timeline, which is full of awesome pixel artists, I caught myself thinking "Oh I wish I could make pixel art too!" wait... that's what I do for a living 😶, like, every week I have to produce several levels for Hungry Cat Picross, and even if it's very small (usually 30*45 pixels wide), well that's still pixel art with heavy color constraints! 😅
Also, I started to push pixels more than ten years ago and that's what got me my first job as an artist in the video game industry...

So I decided to use more time for pixel art, to make small experimental pieces and bigger, ambitious ones, and to give a shot on pixeljoint weekly challenges again. We'll see where it leads!

Everyday I create a small piece (100*100 pixels wide) with a restricted palette of 5 or 6 colors. I'm having a lot of fun with this, exploring whatever inspires me!

I mostly use the old Pixaki app on my iPad, it's nice to work from the couch 😃

Weekly challenges on pixeljoint:

I made this one for Grimmla's challenge on DeviantArt, this is Bask, one of her original characters!

I'm currently working on this fanart of Kalameet, the black dragon from Dark Souls!

So far it's been more satisfying to explore pixel art than digital painting, maybe I am a pixel artist after all?! 😆

Petit Grou Wild Adventure

Another game jam, another theme! This time we had to make an adventure game.
I had not much time on my hands during this 15 days jam, so I made the smallest assets in a tiny sketchbook (13*9 centimeters, it took about a day).
It's actually the one where I draw the whole 2017 inktober challenge!

The game is a point & click and its plot is simple: you need to find a sleeping Petit Grou and wake him up to start an adventure!

Screenshots:

I would really like to improve this game (I had to rush, the code is really messy), and one day, to make a real game of that type! :)

May 2018

It's been a crazy month!

For 15 days May was all about training in environment painting:

Then I took a freelance job and worked 7/7 days a week \o/

It's quieter now, and I don't know what to do with myself!

Pingouin & Raptor: Hidden Objects STEP 2

Well, I'm stuck.

Prototyping this game wasn't that difficult but I can't find how to continue from the prototype.
Seems like I have to redo all the code and I don't know from where to start :D

So I took the easy way out and prepared 2 more scenes with 30 different items:

And I currently work on this one:

I'm not sure when I'll get over this dev block, but I still plan to finish this game in June è__é

Pingouin & Raptor: Hidden Objects STEP 1

Last month I started to work on my hidden objects game.
That went well! It took about a week to get a (very simple) prototype of the game\c^^/

I have prepared a new scene:

(I plan to have 5 scenes ready for the launch)

Now I have a ton of things to add (timer, levels, endgame, feedback and so on) to complete the prototype!

Kirou of the Sky Police

Another Game Jam done \c^^/

This time we had to make an horizontal shooter in 18 days!
My game takes place in the sky: Kirou the tiny t-rex is a Sky Police Officer, and he must slow down planes that fly too fast!

First roughs

Kirou has two different attacks, some quick bullets to slow down the planes, and the powerful traffic ticket to score!
Tiny planes!

London Skyline

It took 2 days to prepare the graphic assets and 5 days to program the game. Controls need to be improved, visual feedback and sfx are missing, but overall I'm happy with it! (I lost a lot of time being sick during this jam :/)

Here is the result: itch.io

Pingouin & Raptor: Hidden Objects

It's happening!

I finally found enough time to work on the game placeholders \c^^/
With 30 different items!

Hello 2018!

2018 has just started and I'm already working on too many things ^^
I added more pictures to my interior (and exterior ^^) studies:

Then I learned how to make a Sokoban game:

That game is not yet finished ;___;

And last week-end I took part of the Global Game Jam with my friends:

Here's our game!

I also took some time to finally submit Spooky Town assets to the Unity Asset Store!

And I added new Food assets to this pack:

What am I up next?! If only I knew :D
