Pixel Art

Lately while I scroll my Twitter timeline, which is full of awesome pixel artists, I caught myself thinking "Oh I wish I could make pixel art too!" wait... that's what I do for a living 😶, like, every week I have to produce several levels for Hungry Cat Picross, and even if it's very small (usually 30*45 pixels wide), well that's still pixel art with heavy color constraints! 😅
Also, I started to push pixels more than ten years ago and that's what got me my first job as an artist in the video game industry...

So I decided to use more time for pixel art, to make small experimental pieces and bigger, ambitious ones, and to give a shot on pixeljoint weekly challenges again. We'll see where it leads!

Everyday I create a small piece (100*100 pixels wide) with a restricted palette of 5 or 6 colors. I'm having a lot of fun with this, exploring whatever inspires me!

I mostly use the old Pixaki app on my iPad, it's nice to work from the couch 😃

Weekly challenges on pixeljoint:

I made this one for Grimmla's challenge on DeviantArt, this is Bask, one of her original characters!

I'm currently working on this fanart of Kalameet, the black dragon from Dark Souls!

So far it's been more satisfying to explore pixel art than digital painting, maybe I am a pixel artist after all?! 😆
